  2. Thank you for examining Kaleidoscope Screen Saver ("Kaleidoscope").

  4. Kaleidoscope is a non-TSR screen saver.  This means it does
  5. not stay resident when you are running your application programs: it
  6. does not take up any program space from your applications, it does
  7. not interfere with them in any way, and it will not pop up while you
  8. are in the middle of something.  
  9.  
  10. To use it, simply put the program "K.EXE" into a directory that is
  11. part of your PATH such as your DOS directory, then type "K" from DOS
  12. whenever you want it to pop up.  You may also want to put it into
  13. your "AUTOEXEC.BAT" file, so that when your computer first boots up
  14. it goes into a safe screen saver mode.

  16. Whenever you want to terminate the program and return to DOS, just
  17. type on the return key or space bar or most any other key.  
  18.  
  19. While Kaleidoscope is running there are options to control speed and
  20. to change the amount of color blend from pure colors to pastel.  Also,
  21. the registered version has command line options for these as well as a
  22. Display mode that locks the program and requires Alt-T to terminate.
  23. Type "K ?" for additional information.

  25. If you are a Windows user you can install Kaleidoscope with the "New"
  26. option of the "Files" menu of the Windows Program Manager and then run
  27. K.EXE by clicking on the icon.  In both Windows and DOS there is no
  28. special hardware requirement other than a VGA of practically any type.

  30. Kaleidoscope is supplied as is.  The author, John Dunn, disclaims all
  31. warranties, expressed or implied, including, without limitation, the
  32. warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any purpose.  The
  33. author assumes no liability for damages, direct or consequential,
  34. which may result from the use of Kaleidoscope.

  36. Kaleidoscope is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  37. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends,
  38. but be sure to give only the full package (including this file) not
  39. altered in any way, and not as part of another system.

  41. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal
  42. computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
  43. provide incentive for programmers to continue to develop new
  44. products.  If you find this program useful and find that you are
  45. using Kaleidoscope and continue to use Kaleidoscope after a reasonable
  46. trial period, you must make a registration payment of $19.00 to the
  47. author at the address given below.

  49. The $19.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any one
  50. computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just like a
  51. book.  An example is that this software may be used by any number of
  52. people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another,
  53. so long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location
  54. while it is being used at another.  Just as a book cannot be read by
  55. two different persons at the same time.

  57. Commercial users of Kaleidoscope must register and pay for their
  58. copies of Kaleidoscope within 30 days of first use or their license
  59. is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting
  60. the author at the address given below.

  63. first contact the author at the address given below.

  65. You are encouraged to pass a copy of Kaleidoscope along to your

  68. a copy of the latest Registered Version of Kaleidoscope.
